"Beautiful, isn't it?" a steel cold voice broke in. Dareon. He smiled. "Hate to tell you, but we have another mission." 

"Who's coming?" 

"You, me, Elis, and Terra." He smiled, and his eyes glinted like peices of flint. she supressed a shudder as he tore through her mind. "Don't mess up like last time." 

"Where to?" 

"Ever heard of the Artemis Fowl books? We leave in an hour."

On a night in Santa Monica, Holly hears the ocean sing with a human teenage boy, with faces made from water and voices praising Mother Ocean. When Artemis catches wind of this, he is eager to join the adventure, to stave off the boredom that comes with having therapy to get rid of the Atlantis Complex.

But the human teenage boy was still just a teenager. He wasn't any older than seventeen and his only long term goal was to just get into college and pay for his mother's funeral. So when the fairies came with good intentions, the human teenage boy saw only a fallen empire who wanted what they couldn't have. And forgot what they did.
